How to install Script Hook V in GTA V

A few files into your GTA V folder, about three minutes. Script Hook V by Alexander Blade is what script mods run on; Menyoo, the trainer we use to spawn add-on cars, needs it.

Before you start

What it does

Script mods (.asi files, like Menyoo.asi) use the game's own functions to spawn cars, change the weather or add missions. Script Hook V gives them that access, and its ASI loader (dinput8.dll) loads every .asi in the game folder when the game starts.

LiorMods mods that need it

Already have ScriptHookV.dll and dinput8.dll next to GTA5.exe, and your trainer opens in the game? Skip this guide. After a game update, come back to step 1: you need the matching build.

Install

1Go to dev-c.com/gtav/scripthookv, the author's own site, and download the zip (about 1.7 MB). The build has to match your game: ours is GTA V Legacy 1.0.3889, and the file is ScriptHookV_3889.0_1158.13.zip. Your game's version: right-click GTA5.exe → Properties → Details.
2Open the zip, then the bin folder inside it.
3Copy ScriptHookV.dll, dinput8.dll, xinput1_4.dll and args.txt. The fifth file, NativeTrainer.asi, is the author's simple trainer (F4); with Menyoo you can leave it out.
4Paste them into your GTA V folder, next to GTA5.exe.

args.txt holds -nobattleye -noBE: Story Mode then starts without BattlEye, the anti-cheat Rockstar added in 2024, which would stop script mods. Download Script Hook V only from dev-c.com: copies elsewhere, and GitHub pages named like "ScriptHookV-2026", are often bait.

Check it works

Start the game. Your GTA V folder now has ScriptHookV.log, and near the top it says INIT: Success, game version is VER_1_0_3889_0 (with your version).
asiloader.log next to it lists every .asi it loaded, for example Menyoo.asi.

Uninstall

Delete ScriptHookV.dll, dinput8.dll, xinput1_4.dll and args.txt (and NativeTrainer.asi, if you copied it). Your .asi script mods stop loading.
