Before you start

What it does

SilentPatch fixes hundreds of bugs in the original game: crashes, glitches in missions, broken effects, and the things that go wrong on modern PCs, like missing widescreen resolutions, high refresh-rate screens, the mouse, and more than one monitor. It's a plugin (SilentPatchSA.asi) with a settings file next to it. It doesn't change how the game looks or plays.

Needs an ASI loader first.

Already have SilentPatchSA.asi in your game folder? You have it. To update, do the same steps and replace the files.

Install

1Download the latest SilentPatch for San Andreas with this link: SilentPatchSA.zip. It always gets the newest build from Silent's official GitHub (about 230 KB). His page: silentsblog.com.
2Open the zip (double-click it). Inside are three files: SilentPatchSA.asi, SilentPatchSA.ini and ReadMe.txt.
3Copy SilentPatchSA.asi and SilentPatchSA.ini into your game folder, next to gta_sa.exe. The ReadMe is optional.
4Updating an older SilentPatch? When Windows says the files already exist, choose the option that starts with Replace.

Windows hides file extensions by default, so in your game folder the two files may show as just SilentPatchSA, twice. That's fine: one is the plugin, the other its settings.

Check it works

SilentPatch shows nothing on screen by itself. You see it in what works: in Options → Display Setup, the resolution list now has your screen's own resolution (for example 1920×1080 or 2560×1440), and the mouse works on foot.
With two or more monitors connected, a small Device Selection window asks which one to play on when the game starts. That's SilentPatch too.

Uninstall

Delete SilentPatchSA.asi and SilentPatchSA.ini.
